Diana Ross

Who would have thought 55 year old Diana Ross would make it into our Hall Of Fame.! But she well and truly has.

She finds herself  here courtesy of an event she'd rather forget which happened on Wednesday 22nd September 1999. The first lady of Motown spent 5 hours in a police station after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting a female security officer at London's Heathrow airport. What is it about airports and singers !!!

The alleged assault occurred as Miss Ross was about to board a Concorde flight for New York. It seems she took exception to being frisked after she set off the security metal detector. According to reports Diana set about doing her own frisking and in doing so allegedly assaulted the female security officer who notified the police. They promptly arrived and took the superstar who had now boarded the plane to the police station for questioning. It is not clear what the nature of the alleged assault was, or how violent. According to one TV reporter, Diana Ross laid her hand on the female security officer's breast !

Diana received a police caution and was released after 5 hours. As she rushed to catch another flight she told reporters little about the assault other than she thought the body search was excessive, intrusive and unnecessary. She was wearing a figure hugging black catsuit at the time and asked reporters 'how could this have set off the detector, there's no metal in this outfit'.
